what's the purpose of this
« on: 20 October 2014, 19:58 »
it's the washer plate that goes on the pressure plate

as you can see I forgot to refit it when I done me 2.0 conversion, what does it actually do?
just out of interest

Probably just spread the load. You did use new bolts though didn't you?

OOPS!  Its there to give an even distribution of load when the new bolts are torqued down, and also stiffens up the Pressure Plate to cope with repeated operation,
Short term, probably be OK. Long term, I'd expect the Pressure Plate to crack with metal fatigue around the holes, but exactly when is an impossible question to answer.
Unless you're thinking about taking the box out anytime soon, you may as well leave as is, because if and when this fails, you'll be needing the replace the clutch anyway!

if I had a pound Everytime somone asked me that.......

no I didn't but I did a few months ago when I fitted the clutch.

I'll be taking it out at the weekend because my clutch is ruined again! it slips in the wet because the sheild at the back of the bell housing is missing. so I'll be putting it back on

If they look alright old bolts can be used but they need new locking paste on the thread. When I done my conversion the plate between engine and pressure plate shook loose and the bolts ripped all the oil seals in the bell housing to pieces and one jammed the clutch.
Gearbox off again with only 20 miles on the new engine.

No sorry I went off on a tangent about my f**k ups with gearbox stuff. The plate goes between the pressure plate and the bolt heads. Sorry for any confusion.
