Hi guys, just after a second opinion or 2 on refitting an engine and subframe in a mk2. Currently the front end of my car has nothing on it, no engine/gearbox, no subframe, no hubs/shocks, no front panel etc etc, you get the idea! I am going to be building up a subframe with new wishbones, steering rack, engine mounts and the like and i'm thinking to make things easier it will be best to bolt up the engine to the subframe and hoist it in like that.
However, my main concern is that this could have implications on torquing up the 2 bolts that go through the subframe/rear wishbone mount. As long as i support the weight of the engine with the crane, this shouldn't be a problem should it?
Also, if you have any suggestions of a better way to install it (subframe and engine separately) then please let me know. or likewise if i've missed out any problems i may encounter doing it the way i intend to as i'm 90 miles from the car at the moment so can't have a look to see if there's anything i haven't thought of!
