oil pressure
« on: 09 September 2008, 18:23 »
does anyone know what the oil pressure should be at various points on an 89 mk2 16v bored to a 2L
i bought this car a couple months ago now and its not tappety but after about ten mins of driving the oil pressure light and buzzer comes on occasionally esspecially when decellerating but if you give it a quick blip it goes off.
I'm halfway thru puttin a new sill on it so it cant be driven at present i've bought some vdo gauges and slapped them on roughly.
At idle its between .5 and 1 BAR and with a short rev it  goes up to 2 BAR is this about right?
Also what should it be when warm under heavy acceleration? THANKS

yep same as mine 0.5 bar at idle when warm. Maybe a  faulty sensor?

i would say a faulty sensor aswell we had a similar problem years back and it turned out to be a sensor
