Far too late but maybe worth mentioning that as soon as you get the insurance ombusdman involved in an insurance claim it costs the insurance company a fair chunk of money (something like £400) even if they end up finding in favour of the insurance company - so its a powerful threat.

A friend of mine wrapped his range rover around a post in a multi storey car park.  He then did a little bit of shuffling to get away from the post which meant scraping it a little more .........his b%^tard insurance co then tried to claim that he was claiming for 3 seperate 'incidents' (the initial impact and two manouvers that caused more damage) so would have to pay 3 excesses!

Naturally he told them to get raffled and after speaking with a solicitor was advised to hit them with the ombusdman threat, they caved in an hour.  Up to that point I didn't realise just how ruthless they were.

Well said.  The Ombudsman was the one big orgainisation which I completely forgot about in my earlier posts.

AlanD, have you got the pics of your new screen logo?  And how does it compare to the OEM one?

Oh yeah , forgot about that. I doubt you will be able to see it with my camera phone as its quite small so will take on with my proper camera when I get home and stick it on here. It looks identical and I can't see any diffrence what so ever with it. Tint is spot on and the install is impressive, impossible to tell its a new pain (is that the right way to spell pain of glass ? lol) apart from the lack of VW badge in the corner. Rain and light sensors all working ok (as you would expect).

Pane

Is it "optically clear"?  Some non OEM screens are known to look "out of focus", particularly if you look at just one object on the outside whilst viewing through different parts of the screen - particularly from top to bottom?

And it is good to hear that they can do a good job, when they want to.  Suppose they are no different to most other companies really.
