Handbrake rubbish! advice?
« on: 28 August 2008, 10:40 »
Hi guys,

Since I bought the car the handbrake has been pretty rubbish.

It feels very slack and wont hold on steep hills!

it clicks about 8 times and is practically at about 45 degree angle before it holds!

I wouldnt mind sorting it out as it seems to be getting slightly worse!

Would this be....

New cable time?
SOmething to do with the rear calipers?
simple cable adjustment?

Any advice would be great?

How much would a garage charge?
or could it be done myself? and how?

thanks

I would guess cable....but the rear calipers can have issued too and i would take it to an m.o.t place (friendly of course) and they will tell you if the rear brakes are working fine or if it is the handbrake
