..... has scrapped the wheel arch of my car whilst it was parked 

I don't know the best way to sort this as I have never had anyone bash into me before and then driven off like the sub-human scum that they are.  It is going in for it's first service next month so do I just get VW to fix it or is it better to seek out a specialist?

It is hard to say without seeing it in the flesh but just run your finger nail across it if you can't feel any grooves that should polish out with a bit of t-cut.if thats no good take it to a recomended bodyshop

That is partly the problem though as I am in Kazakhstan and the it is the wife who has the car so I haven't seen it myself in the flesh and it is due in for the service before I get home.

She says that you can feel grooves so I think it is a bodyshop repair but are VW any good or am I better getting someone else to do it?

hmmm its a nasty panel to spray if i remember rightly...

I would get someone to come and look at it from a reputable local company, the stealers will just go rightttt it needs a whole new wing and blah blah when in reality it doesnt need it...

As with most jobs its down to the individual and how much pride they take in their work,just cause you take it to vw does not mean you get a top job.Id wait till i got home,does not look like its gone threw paintwork into the metal

She tells me that it is not down to the metal which I presumed was a good thing.

OK then next question does anyone know a good bodyshop in the Edinburgh area?

Looks like a spray job I'm afraid. I used my local VW bodyshop in Newcastle and the paint match (DPB) was excellent - you can't tell it from the original paint

OOh fella, i feel your pain. I drove in to a parking space at Gatwick BP garage on Wednesday, straight in to a whacking great bit of protruding rock. Big gouge from bumper - man was i p*ssed! at least it was my own fault and not some barsteward!

Independant specialist would be my advice, fortunately i know a local guy who is tip top, is going to re-do my front and rear bumper taking out the scratches and scuffs and repair the gouge for £180. Bit far from Scotland though

....Perhaps your VW dealers would say that, but mine certainly wouldn't. I must say I get fed up with people constantly tarring all dealers with the same brush. It just isn't so - There are good ones and there are bad ones.

Don't worry, Makeveli - That's easily fixed by a good bodyshop and soon you'll forget it ever happened.
