rounded of locking nut
« on: 03 August 2008, 15:19 »
There i was hapily changing my alloys to the newer montreal versions for the gti.

Completed 3 alloys no probs and then on the last wheel the bolts were on so tight
that the locking nut rounded off on the drivers front.

after an hour of trying to fudge to get it to move i had no choice but to drive to a local garage and ask if they could help.

They struggled for a while too, and after 30 mins hey presto the locking nut came out...
With a big relief i gave the mechanic a big kiss (and a tenner)
And went home to fit the 4th alloy.

i had this issue at work this morning! pug 406!!!! french!!!!!!!

wheel bolt rounded off! i tried for ages different things to try to shift it! i got rather angry shall we say... customer sat in reception didnt help... so we tried to weld a nut to it, nope... no good then a bolt.. no good!! in the end just welded a whole load of weld on it and managed to remove it using a turbo socket... took me 4 hours to remove it in the end....

You not having much luck are you Billy?
I think you car wants to stay standard.

1st you get a remap and the clutch throws a wobberly,
2nd you try to upgrade the wheels, and they dont want to come off.

The car looks better with the new wheels.

Has your clutch been fitted yet?
