Fitting alternative seats/interior
« on: 07 May 2008, 12:53 »
I have a 97 8valve gti & the seats are very worn. looking to maybe fit some leather. Do the seats from a 3 door fit a 5 door...same mounting points & bolts etc? Obviously the door cards are different but they're not as important right now. Any help out there guys???

yes and they are identical apart from the 5door has the tilting mechanism hidden (so I'm told)

Yep, I'm running 3 Door leathers in my 5 door, find the tilt on the front seats pretty useful tba!!

Obviously door cards are different though! :afro:

after a interior for mine at some point, well some front seats then a retrim

well after going to see MJ of legindary MJ interiors, i have now seen just how crap the vw leather is compaired to his!!! did you know the mk 3 leather isnt full leather, apparently its just the front bits that are and the rest is fake leather  he told me only the mk 2 leathers are full leather...not sure about highline leather tho as didnt ask him

i have been blown away, he had his set of recaros, retrimmed in his own leather and they were super sweet, you will see them on the bay next week, as he is selling his mk 3 without them, offered me the trim for 1100 quid but im holding out till the repray and engine swap is done...then im gonna get him to do my interior

he just doing a mate of mines VR powered 8v (which will be in all the mags soon)  the interior is costing 5000 quid!!!!!!  everything retrimmed, dash, centre consol, A B C pillars roof liner the job lot, looks fantastic
