Suggestions

hi

i am fairly new to the site and also had owned a honda accord in the past, its just fairly recently i bought a Golf GTI and its fun driving it.

excuse my ignorance but can anyone suggest any ideas as to how to improve the performance overall of the car. any suggestions will be mostly appreciated. i already had the air mass meter changed and removed the fault code (at VW dealer) and a major service done as well.

best performance per pound mod is a re-map for around £300 you can expect almost and extra 33% in power, another cheap popular mod is an induction kit / air filter, after this you're looking at exhaust and ultimatly bigger turbo's depending on your budget.

a cheap mod for the 1.8T is the big brake upgrade 288mm => 312mm this involves changing the discs / pads and pad carrier

cosmetic mods wise, most people opt to change the wood trim to either the R32 / anniversary aluminium or paint it their selves, pedals either TT / anniversary / R-line are a straight swap and wont break the bank, front arm rest if you don't already have one.

more expensive mods are colour coding of valances, alloys (most people go for 18"'s although the ride does suffer) if you like things big then you can get 19" 's check out Liz's pics.

have a read through sub £100 mods

i'll warn you though, once you start modding expect your bank balance to suffer

i guess i am gonna get a remap done.

been talking to this chap nick at r-tech and see what happens.

do you suggest anyone else near the london area for remap. any experience you got with any one of them will be very useful.

Ashmond might be able to help you with some info regarding people round london.

when / if i get mine done, i'll probably go custom code (they did Rhyso's TDI) as they offer a mobile service.

r-tech have a very good reputation too!

Hello mate and welcome to the forum!

Over Lakeside, Essex there is a place called AMD (next door to Ikea), they do a revo remap which is really good, they do a map specially for the AUM engine with the KO3s turbo which you will have which will give you around 220bhp.

Apart from that as whats been said above, just get a induction kit, a new dv and exhaust system and that will be enough to give you a smile on your face when your driving it!
