MK2 electric window switches.
« on: 17 May 2008, 21:26 »
Has anyone managed to put LEDs in theirs and if they have, is there some kind of knack to rebuilding the switch?

I managed to do one, but since then I've messed up three switches trying to do another - everything seems ok, but when I put them back together the switch doesn't work how it should - sometimes to send the window up, sometimes down or even both. Rather than move like it should it feels solid and there seems to be no reason I can see why.

All I'm doing is the reverse of how I opened them and there isn't a lot to them - it's baffling

They are a bar steward to do and very fiddly. I have had some success with these, but for what they cost from a breakers yard... that is what I do now.

I tried to swap all my switch bulbs for LEDs on accouint of some being dead, but gave up on the window ones as I could never get them together without them being 'soggy'.

Stumped up for all new ones from VW in the end, got so pissed off with them.

And then the ones from VW weren't very bright and are all slightly different colours!

Yeah, think I'm just going back to strandard on the leccy window switches - I fluked the first one, the rest don't even work, they either cause problems or simply don't work at all - the LEDs light up though
