Advice if poss.
« on: 07 May 2008, 16:04 »
Ive looked till im bog eyed for an answer to my question, so apologies if its been done.
When i joined this fine establishment and bought my valver she had a bad oil leak, nice man at a garage said crank seal, it was the oil pressure switches on filter housing. Fixed that meself. But it still has a wee leak which if all this car was doing is cruising the isle of man id be ok but its my go off island on training motor so popping the bonnet after me training (on fixing tractors) to top up oil dont look good.
Soo. what could it be? im off to europe in a few weeks, ive done wheel bearing and got an oil filter and plugs on the way.
Could it be the breathers or a seal, theres still a wee bit below the filter housing, the tiniest weep from the rocker cover (dont think its that).
When it drops on  the floor it comes out near front o/s wheel in fornt of the engine slightly.
I use good quality oil so it aint goin all thin on me.  (Shell Rimula Diesel) 15w40

Many thanks chaps.

I had a leak in the same place & it turned out to be a cheap after market filter with no internal pressure switch, caused pressure to build up & leaked oil out the seal on the switch?

Might be the same if it's not a genuine filter?

Also had an oil leak on the lower pulley seal which poured oil out all over the sump?!
