Newbie, reckons this HAS to be the place to ask????

Hi, just in the process of registering a Mk11 Golf which has seen service in Germany and then Poland and finally the UK before being brought to (Hopefully!) end her days here in France. Car is a 1990 reg Mk11 1.6 Auto 3 door. Model is "Madison" and she is a BRILLIANT little car! Bought for the wife who has had both knees replaced so wanted an auto box. I on the other hand wanted something I can rely on! It is now 30 years since I started my apprenticeship after all! And my mentor is back in the UK and phone calls ARE expensive and.......I err from the subject again!

What I need are the specs. for the car to be able to register here in France. IE kerbside weights, laden weights, I can give the required in French if anyone is OK with that and then? OK here goes!

I HAVE seen an English version of this so again if anyone knows where it is?? BUT it took me a day to find this one!!! 

The biggest thing for me is the weights bit!! I fail to see why they want so many different weight things? BUT as the log Book is in Polish and I have SOME difficulty reading and speaking English (don't even get me started on French! YET!! ) But if anyone has done this or is able to help please??? I can be contacted by PM and will respond to all who take time to answer me and can ring anyone if they care to leave a number or even give you a UK number to ring me which would cost just 3p a minute.

Sorry for being So tardy in my reply!! But YES it does some of it but by far and away not enough unfortunately.

I need kerbside weights and axle weights and pulling weight and several others I have possibly forgotten!

BEST thing is I am SURE I found an English speaking site which showed the meaning of this lot!

RIGHT! Update to this! I found the required info RE the English version of the page I needed and have now I THINK found the source of the info I need to be able to fill the form in. I.E. the spec for the Mk2 golf! This SHOULD be contained in the HAYNES manual for the Mk2 at the REF - 1 page?? Anyone got this manual that is prepared to help me out please??

Just a thought, but do you need to re-register your car in France?
I lived in France, drove my uk car there and was told that i didnt need to re register the car - (ie) get french plates. Aparently it was compulsory, but not any more (?)
I may be wrong, but unless you specifically want french plates, just get it insured for driving on french roads, and you should be ok.
