Seriously though guys, if you want a quick car you dont buy a 1.8 mk3 golf  :tongue:

Ok yours could have something wrong with it slowing it down but its never going to be feel that nippy.

The 1.8 came in two flavours. The 75bhp and the 90bhp (like the Mk2 block). So if you have a 1.8 75bhp block and compare it to an AEX 1.4 with 60bhp, then there may not be much difference.

ahhh 75bhp in a mk3, makes sense as to why it may seem slow now  :laugh: :tongue:

Mine is the slower one  but i would expect it to be a little faster than the 1.4  :grin: Its a MK3 GTI type block, its identical to my 8V, i even changed the rocker covers :laugh: :laugh:

Im not to fussed, it pulls ok ish i will change the fuel filter and dump a load of cleaner in it etc. hopefully it will liven things up a bit  :smiley:

stick a smller gear box on it and feel the diffrence. ie 1.4 or 1.6 box wil sort that out . the 1.8 box is to higher ratio as i do this to all my cars... its so good youd wet ur pants with exciment :grin:

LOL hmm i will wait untill the clutch needs doing,  could put the 1.8 box on the engine that going in my 1.4 .. which will be a 1.8 16V hopefully... kill two birds with one stone   :grin:
