Flashing red temperature light?
« on: 21 April 2008, 17:04 »
Hi guys.

the red temperaure light has started flashing on my 16v GTI, but as far as I can tell the engine isn't overheating and the fan kicks in as should.  It goes out ofter a 10 or so seconds or if I come to a stop.

Also the temperature needle never gets to halfway, stays around 1/3 up.

and I get hot air only from the windscreen and footwell, not from any vents.

connected?

any ideas?

normal temp is half way on the gauge, whats the oil temp say?
as for light, pull the plug from the top of the header tank and bridge the pins, if the flashing stops its the level sender at fault if your coolant level is ok.
