Almost a GTi owner
« on: 10 April 2008, 18:46 »
Hi guys im new to this forum and glad to be here, atm i have a audi a3 tdi sport but im in the process of looking round for gti's ive test drove the manual and the dsg and im absolutley in love with the dsg. Im going to look at 2 on saturday both from dealers as i want to px the audi, the first is a 5 door graphite blue dsg 05 plate 32k miles and the second is a 3 door steel grey dsg 55 plate 26k miles they both have 18" monza's but the steel grey car has the multi function steering wheel where as the blue car does not price wise the blue graphite is 15k and the steel grey 16k. Are these reasonable dealer prices? which colour is more popular ie for resale etc. Any comments and views most appreciated thanks in advance

They both sound like nice colours but dont think there is too much difference between the steel grey and the graphite blue? I quite like the graphite blue but at the end of the day its all down to personal choice. Aswell if the steel grey has a MFSW, it would have the a Highline computer...something alot of people seem to opt for. Its upto you aswell, me personally i would prefare a five door over a three door having owned both.....best of luck  I think for that extra £1k, go for the steel grey, you wont be disapointed with the colour, there are quite a few around here on the website and you also have that less mileage....best of luck

Hi Dave32007
Welcome here, and this is by far the best forum in my opinion!
I cant agree more, the DSG is fantastic. I would personally go for the 5 door if you have children or use the rear seats frequently (that sounds a bit strange when I re-read it!).
I have a 5 door BMP DSG and absolutely love it. I traded in a 2006 Audi S4 4.2 V8 and only miss the sound of the exhausts, nothing else. The GTI is fun to drive, easy to live with and as Jeremy Clarkson said on Top Gear, "Its all things to all men".

Good luck with the choice!

welcome to the forum, both prices seem ok, i would go for grey out of your choices, and try to haggle the price a little

Thanks guys, even tho 5 doors would be more practical im inclined to think that the MFSW and highline computer are a great advantage especially with dsg so atm im drawn to the 3 door steel grey. Many thanks for your input.

go for the steel grey!!!, 5 door is more practical though, if you have little ones to consider. :smiley:Dsg is by far the better choice by the majority on here with only a couple of peeps think different. Agree with multifuntion wheel choice and make sure it has flappy paddles fitted aswell.(twice the fun)

Well, Steel Grey is the fastest colour although the blue is pretty rare (unlike the common as muck black )

As Phil said - check it has paddles, can't image running DSG without it

Make sure you check out other posts on here regarding "issues" - especially steering rack, might be able to use during the haggle process

Good luck
