Porsche alloy wheels
« on: 14 April 2004, 22:03 »
Hello their i have recently purchased some porsche design 90 alloys for my 1983 mk1 golf gti. I was just wandering if any body could recomend a tyre size and what size wheel adaptor i would need. I know i can get 20,25,30,35,40 or 50mm adaptors but would any mods to the wheels arches be required. The wheel sizes are FRONTS-7Jx16 ET55 and the REAR-8Jx16 ET52.3.  I was thinking of running 205/40r16 would these be okay i dont know. Any help would be very appreciated...

you want the adapters as narrow as possible as they push the wheels further outwards to the arches. most 5*130 to 4*100 adapters are 25 mm I think. 8 inch wide rear wheels plus the 25mm means they will surely hit the arches, so a bit of work is going to be required their mate :) 195/40/16's would look nice and stretched on the front wheels but maybe a bit too tight on the rears - good luck :)
