Rear big bumper.

How is the plastic part of the rear big bumper held onto the metal frame?

Does it just slide in or what?

I've just bought a second hand one and it doesn't seem to be attached too well at all 

I know they're not exactly the best quality, but my clips look a bit dodgy to say the least - the top ones kind of grip the bumper a bit, bottom ones are snapped/missing/seem to do little.

i'll try and get some pics now mate but i've just bought some big bumpers and those clips are the only thing holding them on i think (maybe not they have 4 bolts aswell!)i'll just go and check...

No worries mate - I should have bought a new one, looks like I've wasted money on this one by the state of it anyway. Just wondering if I can salvage it.

just waiting for the picture to upload but i've just had a look and you may be ok. those clips at the top just slot into a lip on the top of the metal bumper iron and anyway there are some holes in the bumper iron and corresponding bolt holes in the bumper that you bolt into so its not the end of the world after all!

not the best but you get the idea the clip just mates with the lip on the bumper iron and there are 4 bolts that go through the iron into the bumper!

Its difficult to explain but I have just done the same with my G60. There are expandable fingers that push together to enter the square hole, then expand back out again once they are home. They are a tight fit and it takes alot of grunting to get each one home. You then should have two plastic wedges to bang into place into the outer most 'fingers' to stop them collapsing and disengaging from the metal frame. You may get away with a couple being damaged, but when I removed the front bumper from my car, the bumper cover just came of from the frame as it was so badly fitted by the last owner. It does not bear thinking about what could have happened if the bumper came off at high speed which would have been a real possibility.

Well basically mine has the clips that the metal frame fits into at the top (shown in the pic by bigman_10) though those are a bit hit and miss and nothing else. The bottom bits are almost entirely snapped off - so I have little idea what's supposed to be there.

The side clips are intact though

There's not bolts on mine - there's holes in the metal frame and evidence of something that's been where they're lined up on the bumper - but they either look broken ornot moulded properly in the first place.
