Will an 8v gti starter motor work in a 16v?

im pretty sure it will work but make sure its for the right gearbox. also it may fail prematurely as more cranking power is needed for the 16v. thats not fact just put my engineering cap on lol!

you dnt really know which ones cheaper until the auction has finshed tho surely?

anyways i wouldnt buy a starter motor from ebay, get a recon one from euro c.p, at least you get money back on the old one and a warrently to boot
