rear ender!
« on: 30 March 2008, 12:42 »
:cry:this morning a dozy bint drove into the back of my ed30 :sick:it first appeared to be just the bumper that is trashed, but on opening the boot and looking in the spare wheel well the floor is quite badly damaged. does anyone know if it would be repairable? i thought that if the floorpan was damaged it was a write off, pissed off doesn't cover it.

sh!t!
Not you as well!!!
my 3week old Ed30 got rear ended on Thursday... not as bad as yours by the sounds of it.
Mine is "just" a bumper/reinforcer, the boot floor is fine as are the rear panels/lights/boot/rear wings etc.

How fast was the impact do you think? Mine was "only" 10-15mph I guess.

its just the bumper on first inspection. i was stopped, she hit me at about 25mph, it hasn't touched the tailegate or anything else, i was surprised to see the amount of damage to the back of the wheel well, the spare wheel cover now sits about 2" higher than before.

Sorry to hear that

Have a look from behind down each side of the car, if you can see any creases in the side panels it is bad and will have to go on a jig to be straightened out, if that is the case and it is still not a right off, then get it sorted and sell it. (not to anyone on this board)

Oh sh!t, not another one

Sorry to hear that Sunnylunn, are you okay? A 25mph rear shunt can be bad on the neck.

You'll only be able to find out how serious the damage is once it has abeen assessed by a reputable repairer, but from the sounds of it, I doubt if it will be a write-off. I'm not sure I would want to keep the car though after a shunt like that.
