Can anyone with some electrical experiance help me out on this one.

Basicaly sum how the one of the wires that go from the light switch to the fuse box, to the actualy lights has fried, dunno how but it has. So the main beam doesnt work, however the side lights do. The indicators dont work but when you select an indicator it doesnt flash the light just comes on the dash(not the acutaly indicator) reverse lights dont work.

Heaters dont work

wipers dont work

Now the funny thing...

To get the wipers to work, put the lights on full beam, wiper on full speed and flash your main beam the wipers work. and also the heaters come on.

I took it too a local auto electrics and told me i need a new fuse box which i've got and an new ignition switch, which i've got. I've tried fitting the ignition switch but i cant get the key barrel off. I really dont fancy changing a fuse box?? :undecided:  Then i will still need to re-wire the wire that has melted. The gargae i took it too said for them to do the work im looking at about £1100

can sum1 help me please please with a cherry on top.!!!!

the guy said it was down to me using a too high wattage bulb...??!!

Think you have melted more than the wire for the lights!   my ignition switch went so instead of takin the barrel off cause im lazy i bought a start button, was a breeze to fit aswell.  Good luck with that lot tho..

Sounds like either/and the headlight switch (dashboard) and stalks might have gone as well.

You shouldn't need to take the barrel out to get the ignition switch off, it comes of the back of the barrel, but you probably need to strip out most of the steering column stuff to get to it. When mine went it melted the black connector plug on the back of the swtich, and I couldn't get the switch out until I'd forced it off (but I can't remember why).

Could the Relief relay have something to do with this as well? It cuts out the wipers, lights, heaters etc when you crank the engine, but i believe that you can override it as you say by putting the headlights on and flashing the lights.

A clever person solves a problem. A wise person avoids it.
