Idle troubles, really need a bit of help here!
« on: 21 March 2008, 19:16 »
As my prev' post about the troubles with my idle. Well since then I have replaced the HT leads, Plugs, dizzy cap, rotor arm, blue sensor, complete new vac' pipes, cleaned throttle body, cleaned all breather pipes and checked for cracks, cleaned ISV, cleaned 'flying saucer' and made sure there are no leaks. Today Jezza did the timing for me the exact way a digi should be setup.......But she still hunts for revs (between 600-1500) until we unplugged the ISV then the revs dropped and she was ok, idle was very low but not cutting out and she was not hunting. What we could not understand was the ISV buzz's when ignition is turned on so there is power going to it and secondly its sparkling inside as its been cleaned through out with carb cleaner.......any ideas on this?

Any help/advice would be great.

Even if the ISV is buzzing, it still might be buggered. Or there is the ISV control module behind the ash tray in the dash (I think 8v's have one, my 16v does).

Get a nearby friendly dubber to swap a known good ISV into your motor.

I know of a VW scrappy just down the road from me, might give im a call and see how much an ISV is.

How do I know if my car has a ISV module, what sort of thing am I looking for?

Many thanks

no isv module on a digi, its all done by de ecu.  try to get a MK3/Passat 2.0 8v isv if you can, will be a bit newer :)
