Broken Exhaust Back Box Mounting
« on: 16 March 2008, 17:38 »
I have an 8V digifant and I am missing the mounting to hook my back box onto (where the large black rubber connects onto). I basically have a 6cm hole where the mounting arm used to be. I have no idea what the mounting looks like (because I know no-one else with a Mk2 Golf) so if anyone could post a picture of their mounting arm it would be greatly appreciated.

One idea was to cut out another mk2's mounting from a donor/scrap vehicle and get it welded in place of the hole. I did have a temporary mount that lasted over 6 months, which connected to a bolt further in from the rear of the vehicle, but it eventually snapped because it was too rigid.

If anyone has any ideas/suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. It is temporarily held up with cable ties, but i need a permanent fix.

Thanks,

Dave.

buy a new back box mate, don't bodge it or mess about welding it.

they're about £20

Are you referring to the hook/mount on the body that attaches the rear/exit of the box?

Yes, the hook/mount on the body, not the backbox itself which is fine. Basically I have nothing to hook the backbox onto
