Clunking noise, front suspension Mk2 valver
« on: 08 March 2008, 18:45 »
I bought my mk2 knowing it had been in a moderate front ender, osf. Wing, bumper, bonnet and inner wing damaged but was repaired nicely. Anyhow, whenever i pull away or brake, there's a grinding/gritting/creaking noise coming from the floor area around my feet maybe? I've replaced both front top mounts and it flew through it's MOT with the problem there. Engine mount is recent and ok. Could it be the subframe mounts, under the steering rack? How easy/hard is it to fit these? Any other ideas what it might be? I'm bl00dy baffled!!  :undecided:

Hi,

I have a clunking noise from my Mk3 8v, and I'm told it is either the suspension top mounts or the anti-roll bar rubbers.  Anyone know how difficult a job it is?  I've had a look and wished I hadn't!
