« on: 07 March 2008, 19:22 »
golf mk2 shell with an abf 2.0l 16v engine but the loom is all over the place, is it best to use a mk3 16v loom or modify the mk2 one ?
Thanks
Mark

you can retain all MK2 Loom apart from the main engine harness loom which you need from the MK3. Thats what I did. You should have 3 white plugs and a permenant live. Plug and play. I just chopped all the lighting loom out of the MK3 loom as all the plugs are different and a pain in the arse to modify.

No mate. If you MK2 is 90spec then you can use the MK2 fusebox as its the same. If yours is post 90spec then you are in for a lot more work. (90specs have hazard switch on the steering column)

coz i bought this car as a project , some wiring has been done(very badly) and there are wires everywhere. It was using a very strange fusebox which had round connections on the plugs not the normal flat spade types. He has stitched me right up.So need to really rip it all out and get a mk2 loom,mk2 fusebox (which i have) and the mk3 engine loom. Does that sound right ?

thats sounds fun. as said if yours is a 90spec then just put the mk2 fusebox back in. If its not then you're looking at alot more work.

If your reasonably local-sih I don't mind coming and taking a look for you.
