Fuel pipe question
« on: 08 March 2008, 20:15 »
Another day, another problem [LOL]

I was just about to undo the bolts holding the fuel pipes to the fuel filter and as I tried to loosen one of them I saw the filter turn and the metal pipe at the back of the filter creak and sure enough it started to leak [:^(]

The pipe is the one in the centre of the picture.

I'd rather buy new than a second hand one (if possible) so will this be main dealer only?

Local scrappy and egay are your best bets for 2nd hand. Local VW's probably only have new ones.
Passat B5.5 2.3 V5 170, with all the extras.

But for the purest engine experience, displacement has no replacement. All other methods are simply attempts to artificially recreate the benefits of displacement.

I've just had the same problem. The thread is here http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=78982.0 If you contact power.steering@virgin.net he might be willing to make one up for you as he is doing for me. VW no longer do this part as I've called my local one. Good luck

Also - what's the best way to remove the metal pipe from the flexi hose?

Mine doesn't seem to have anything holding it on, it's just very tight and I don't want to damage it when removing it.

It's not held on with anything, it's just a nipple end that slides into the fuel pipe. No advice I can give you other than gently turning and pulling the pipe once detached from the fuel filter at the same time. Don't worry if you split the hose at the end as you'll have enough hose to play with to re-attach to your new pipe.
