Droopy doors!

In the last lot of high winds the driver's door got ripped out of my wife's ickle hand. It now 'drops' when you open it. What is the best way to cure this? It is a five door if that make any difference??

Normally to cure door drop you'd change the hinge pin, but you'd better check the bolts etc as well

If you turn the car upside down gravity will straighten the doors out for you.
 


Jokes aside, Filthy's prob hit the nail the on the head. One other thing, on the Mk4's which suffer door droop, metal shims were usually used to pack out the lower end of the hinge to raise the door - just something to consider.

I cured this problem on my mk1 by putting a jack underneth the door and winding it up. worked fine after.....

Do a search o this forum. You can jam a wheel bolt in the bottom hinge and shut the door against the locked in bolt.
This lifts the door up. Jam the bottom hinge to lift the door up, top to drop is down.

It worked a treat on mine.

Also did a Picasso with the same trick.

Some good suggestions guys, thanks. Don't think I'll try the turn the car upside down one though!!

I guess I need to determine whether the door blowing back has bent the door pin or just moved the  bolts off position slightly - the lattter is probably easier to sort.

just noticed this on my new MKIII. a slight misalignment on the driver (maybe others,aint checked) got to be tighten the bolts or get tighter hinge innt
