Ive got a Golf MK2 1600 CL with the infamous 2e2 carb.
The car runs fine but I have noticed a couple of issues:-
- IM currently only getting about 28-30 mpg with mixed driving, I would have thought I would get more as this is only a 1600 with 72bhp
- when I stop the engine, it runs on for a second or two
- the idle speed seems too high, there is no rev counter so IM gussing it idles at 1500-2000 rpm
Ive had a look at the 2e2 info page in the maint section and all appears to be ok, the 3/4 unit works as does the waxstat and the manifold "O" ring seems ok as the piping to the carb is hot.
Maybe the idle speed needs lowering and idle mixture adjusting?
