I am now pulling my hair out with my MK3 16v golf as it will not let you interrigate the ecu via the computer reader, giving the message can not communicate with ecu, even after replacing the abs pump and ecu. It can however communicate with other ecu's (engine etc) which has me and my excellent mechanic stumped. The abs warning light seems to have a mind of its own usually comming on at ignition then going off when I start moving or passing the 3 second time out on ignition but then later comming on after the abs pump makes a strange noise. Any suggestions welcome no mention of the scrappies though!
