I will be using it as my daily drive and will keep it for upwards of 3 years so what I am looking for is reliability first but also enough of a kick as I am used to driving a remapped 330d so i would appreciate some mid range punch too.

....Plenty of torque in the Beemer diesels. I'd say that a Revo Stage1 (with +£50 option to switch to Stage2) would satisfy you. The GTI's turbo will be noticeably different. My Stage1 has plenty mid-range grunt at over UK legal limit speeds.

Welcome Mikergti

The Standard speaker system in my opinion is relatively poor

If you look at my project thread you will find a post on the sound system.

As for a company to fit said system - where are you based?  I used a company in Sheffield called Source who have a good rep when it comes to sound systems and installs.

As RR says APR, REVO and Bluefin are the remapping companies that most people use. In my experience APR and REVO have a better rep than Superchips as having more thoroughly tested remaps (although this is a hot debate, so I'll say no more )

I'm sure you'll enjoy your GTI when it arrives

Oh and as for the Recaro's I'm a 6ft and 14 stone ex ruffer bugger and I fit in easily - if snugly into them. The only extra consideration is that the recaro's dont have side airbags in them.

Hi Guys,

What a great forum this is...loads of feedback and information being passed about - beats any owners club I've ever been a member of!!!

Hurdy I am just up the road from you in Wakefield so I may contact Source in Sheffield when I need to and I will probably use Awesome as they are northern based too!!

RR - out of curiosity what levels does the Revo stage 2 take the car to???

As I am in a lucky position of being able to spec the GTI as I wish do you guys have any must haves/don't waste your money comments bearing in mind I will go to an aftermarket stereo/sat nav and then get the modding bug, or worm!!!!

Also does anyone know how much the diamond cut/charcoal diamond cut Oettinger type RXX rims cost and who may sell them in the UK??

....It depends on your other mods to some extent. It's best you phone Revo 01327 301901 - they are very friendly and helpful.
