Cleaning My Valve Cover
« on: 22 February 2008, 20:58 »
I've currently got my rocker/valve cover off, and gave it a quick scrub with fairy liquid. It now looks really matt and dull - Is that how they are supposed to look, or is there something I can do to get it nice and shiny, like polish it with engine oil or something?

(Excluding sending it away for chroming etc.)

what is it? 8v? they are normally a satin type finish, if it was me i'd scotch pad it back, then hit it with some satin black hammerite, or if you want shiney, black hammerite or simoniz wheel silver.

meh, same thing, rub back so its clean.. spray away! hammerite is alot more hardcore than people give it credit for.

*edit* did you want it polished? they're normally a rough-ish cast finish, if you want it shiney you'll need to break out the wet and dry and rub like hell until it shines!
