American petrol Prices!!!
« on: 21 February 2008, 04:29 »
im in salt salt lake city at the moment (snowboarding) and rented a ford f250!! its a massive pickup with 5 seats and seems to be twice the size as my range rover sport!! any way went to the petrol station today and it took 22.5 gallons!!!! (just under 5 liters in 1 gallon) its also 2.89 dollers for one gallon!! which is cheap.

now the difference is the ron. the highest ron in the station was 89ron which is cr@p so does anybody think that our petrol is more expensive as it is higher quality!!?? just wondering as i would never dream of using this in my GTi.

oh and ive seen 1 R32 and 1 red GTi. they do not look at all the same as UK spec either as they look far higher and small 15" or 16" alloys??!!

GTI MK5
Not the only GTI...........but the best! ; )

Americans don't use the 'Ron' system they use 'Pon' and although the numbers are lower the octane rating works out the same as UK.

You will also be pumping 'American' gallons which are 3.7 litres rather than 4.55 litres.

Still mighty cheap fuel though.
EDITION 30.
I couldn't eat a whole one.

In America the Golfs all sit higher on the ground. Thats just how it is. Different springs etc.
And no. The alloys are the same as UK spec. 17 standard and 18 optional.

No...you can also get 16" alloys which look ridiculous on a GTI imo and they make the car look alot alot higher.....

OSIR Front Splitter - OSIR Rear Diffuser - RNS 510 - JL Audio Cleansweep - JL Audio 400/4 Amplifier - JL Audio ZR650 - Recaro Bucket Seats - 3.2 V6 of Pure Power!

yeah. But they come on the Golf and not the gti. If you find a GTi with 16" alloys then its either a GTi with issues or a Gti with a wack owner.

 :lipsrsealed:

Either way. Most of the 16" alloys can be bought in 18" and look awesome. So I wont complain..

i don't think that the Americans pay as much in duty as we do, also they have a lower cost of living than we do, and with the $ being so weak the fuel is going to seam even cheaper.

also their petrol is like p1ss hence why the euro spec cars are so much quicker than the us ones.
