how high should the revs go

Just wondering does anybody know how high the revs should go in 5th gear, on a 2l 8v gti.

on a private road it should rev to about 5800-6000rpm before resistance/wind takes over (thats about 125mph if your intersted) allthough they red line at 6500 I doubt you'll ever get it on the limiter in 5th!

Thanks alot for that. Had taken upto 5000 revs in 5th (on a private road) before losing my bottle, was curious to know how far it would go.

dont think i should say, but i have  :embarassed: :tongue: :laugh: :evil: :smug:

but its not a fun thing to do...gets abit scary when you meet a cross wind lol
