Can I swap a power unit pump from Mk2 GTi 16v into a non power steering Mk2 GTi 8v? Is it a straight swap over or are there major mods required.
I am thinking of buying a fairly good nick 8v big bumper model (90) but the only thing letting it down is the fact that it hasn't got power steering. I already own a basket case 16V with power steering.
Help very much appreciated as always.

There was a thread recently about this - have a look a few pages further on. I think its a lot more work than just the pump!!

i dont think its just the pump you need to swich over its wires hoses they have all got to be linked together might even go into the ecu you would have to go into a garage and ask but i would say its gonna be a fair whack of money for that.

Pump, mounting bracket, pipes, rams and the reservoir is just some of the bits, hold out for a 90 spec digi with pas
i wouldn't go back to none pas.
