Cold Cranking..
« on: 01 April 2004, 21:47 »
Still giving me grief guys and beautiful girls....

Tried changing the phosphor bronze bush on the end of the starter motor shaft.  Battery is good as it starts day in day out, no probs!   First crank is a mare but the rest seems okay until fireup and all good then on.

Checked the joints at the starter motor, battery, chassis point..

Any others to try please ?

Hi Hammy.
What have you done so far (not starter bush, read that ;)).
Battery, starter ok?.
(stick a diesel starter on, that will sort it ;D).
Steve.

Are the teeth on the flywheel gear and the starter in good nick as it may not be engaging properly?

Sounds weird though as the first one of the day is bad and the rest are fine.

Maybe take it off the car and hold it in a work mate and then using jump leads operate it off your battery and see how it works.
