Buying a MK4 1.8 GTI (not turbo)
« on: 28 March 2004, 21:42 »
Even tho I'll be getting it checked out by the AA, what should I be looking out for?

I have no experience with VW's.

If the AA say its alright, you shouldn't have many probs with mk4s.

Saying that, check the electric windows go up and down ok, the Mk4s have a history of dodgy electric windows.  Also, check for leaks in the Aircon system if its got one, and for leaks in the washer hoses, as I've heard these can be problematic.

I've never had any of these things go wrong myself, it's just from what I've heard.

I've stuck some info about prices in your original thread in the VW-Chat section.

Cheers,
Rich.

the standard vw plugs are made by ngk they are of a triple prong style (well the old ones i removed were (vw,audi ngk stamped)) the bosch super 4's i got were ?19.99 which aint bad i spose, dunno ho wmuch vw ones are, i was recommened these by frosticles, and after me service it sure feels a bit fresher like.

stock vw plugs are 20 for four, so I'd go for the bosch triple fours.  think halfords sell them?

Knite - have you had any chew from you 57i K&N set up with your MAF?
