there we go, this UV joint from the toledo fits the 90 spec column.
 SO FOR REFERENCE TO ANYONE ATTEMPTING THIS GET BOTH THE RACK AND UV JOINT.

i am having 1 little problem though, i can connect one end at a time but not both of them lol, once you get one end on, its hard to get the other end square to push it on. which end should go on first? should be up and running by friday so big thanks to you jonny! i owe u some beers  :wink:

ok this one tiny little thing is turning into a huge nightmare. I just can not get it connected at the steering column under the dash :angry: my backs in half from laying on the front seat runner too :P any one living local to me wana help me out for some cash? im desperate now. jonny is it possible that the uv joint from the seat is a bit longer thus it not able to sit square to slot in? if thats the case ill never do it. i feel like crying right now  :cry:

ALL DONE  :grin: took my a while to work out how the column can slide, i should have a haynes i know, but i just use the online bentley manual which doesnt document this procedure. anyway its all hooked up and and my batteries charging at the moment so i shall be testing it in the garage later on.

I didnt get an email saying you had replied!  The job is a total pain in the arse as you have found, especially with that damn spring!  Bit late now but for reference take off the lower ignition surround trim, disconnect all the electrical plugs there and remove the allen bolt.  Then the whole column will be free to move, this should give you a bit more room to fiddle :)

lol yea cheers fella its all good now, only thing is theres i little clunk when moving the wheel alil from left to right, and i can feel it in the clutch pedal too. thats how i ended up dong it anyway, taking the column off as uve described. what is that little spring for anyway? cheers for your help mate i got it done by the friday i needed it for 2 weeks ago :cool: :cool: :cool:

spring is to keep the column under tension i guess! as for the clunk check the mounting bolts n rubbers are all tight and check the track rod ends for play?
