Update:

Phoned Rueben and we had a chat. he thinks its being underfueled on startup. probably sensors.

Gonna book it in somwhere to get it on the computer to see what fault codes come up and go from there.

We also discussed wheels, suspension and arb's. This guy really knows what hes talking about. I will be contacting him again in a couple of months to sort out some gear.

Thanks again for the contact Ash

No problem mate, as I said he is literally one of, if not the only person I actually trust when trying to find out about me car (retailer wise), there are alot of cowboys out there!

Glad I could help a fellow dubber out!

Will always love my mk4 but she had to go...225 Quattro TT in its place....but its still black (she lives on in spirit!)

with regards to the ESP light staying on, I had that problem and it was found to be a speed sensor on the rear wheel being faulty.

Hav'nt got any local garages that had my engine code so had to go to VW. They charged me £70 to fit and part was £49. Was a lot easier and cheaper to fix my crap old cavalier.

Update

More info on starting problems.

Its now booked in at the steelers tomorrow for diag. before i go, does anyone have any ideas on the following.

Now, if i turn the ignition on, wait for the dash lights to go out then try and start it starts a lot easier and without any thouching of the gas. (still spluttery though) Almost like an older diesel where you have to wait for the glow plug light.

Does anyone know why this might be?

thanks y'all.
