interior change!
« on: 22 March 2004, 10:55 »
Right i'm intending to getting rid of that wooden look dash parts in the golf, the parts do look pretty easy to just pull off, but i just wondered if anyone has done it yet? is it easy? Does the gear knob just screw off? ive found the gear and gaiter to get off a bora sport.
rather than all the silver off a r32 cause that kit i know will be pretty pricey, so i was looking to get just plain black vinyl/leather as the replacement parts.
Has any golf got those as inserts instead of the wood?

ummm few questions there! ???

Its all better now very shiny, but now the windows have gone again! and shocks are squeaking like mice!!aarrgghhh

changed mine the other way around.  from the black vinyl to wood.

all the bits just clip off/pull ot except for the  central console.   You'll need to change this out as the vinyl is one complete moulded item, where the wood trim console has the clip wood inserts.  New cage from VW about ?45.  the cup holder may need changing to suit your new trim.

the gear knob has a crimp clip that holds it on as well.

I got all the black vinyl bits if your interested.

Should be with you now.

please note the leather gear knob does not have the plate on top.  I had to put this on my the wood one as this originally was out of a six speed bora.

Took about one hour all in. just load or screws.
