SO WOULD I HAVE TO CHANGE THE ALTERNATOR AND THE POWER STEERING PUMP, AS THE POWER STEERING PUMP RUNS DIRECT OFF THE CRANK PULLEY. SO IM WONDERING IF I CAN CHANGE THE WHOLE SET UP TO RUN SAME AS MK 2. JUST DONT KNOW WHICH OF MY EXISTING PARTS I CAN USE

yes i think you have to change over to all the mk2 stuff, this includes bottom pulley, pas pump brackets, alternator brackets, pas pump, and alternator iirc

Hi, im running a mk2 gti with the older 1.6 IDI TD in it. depending how it goes next year will be looking at the same conversion and am only in Huddersfield, so will have to get some tips from you mate. My conversion was allready done, but is running power steering with no problems.
If you chat with the guys at
www.vwdiesel.net
they might be able to help. Im sure ive seen them knocking the hell out of the chassis leg to get the clearance they need.
lots of guys doing the same sort of thing over here too;

Could always try a solid front mount to try and reduce engine movement
