creaky steering wheel
« on: 16 November 2007, 16:49 »
 ok I think I should get an award for the most anal question here

My steering wheel has always had a slight creek, noticed mostly when turning 90 degrees left. This morning it was even more noticeable then normal, I'm guessing this is because of the cold and it's effect on plastic housing/parts on or behind the wheel.

So my question is.... has anyone had a similar experience ? Anyone removed a steering wheel?? Is it worth me selling the car over???

Theres a bush for the column that might cause creakiness. Get some white grease spray and spray any UJ's from the rack up as far as you can, spray a part then try the steering and as you go on, you'll eliminate the problem area.

My stupid car does it! It drives me loopy. I'm replacing the rack (due to another issue), but I'm going to be problem finding after that, unless its the slack rack causing the issue in the first place.
