heater problems...
« on: 12 November 2007, 10:29 »
right people, had the first frost of the winter up my end this morning, so i jumped int eh car, whacked the heaters on, pushed the lever for the fan direstion to windscreen, and noticed a small cog/gear drop out of my dashboard... about inch or so in diameter and black. suprise suprise, no air was flowing throught he windscreen vents, it was still flowing through the face vents on the dash...

im guessing this is gonna be a dash out problem, unless the heater control pops out...

i know its a bit obscure, but has anyone had simular problems?

driving with a totally fogged up window is not great, especially when facing the sun! so pretty desperate to get this sorted!

the heater control on dash will come out with out removing the dash, just pull the levers out and it should be able to pull out.....
dont think there is any cogs ther though, i maybe wrong though

how ever there are cogs at the bottom of the dash behind the centre console,if u remove this u will see them on passenger side, im guessing ts from there?

at the moment, center console is out cos guages are hopefully going in this weekend...

it all seems to be fine, as in the dials seem to still have the resistance when i push them to move the vents direction, just the vents dont move.. so i'll have a sneaky peak at the cogs down below... hopefully its an easy fix! if not, off to the scrappers this week!

the cog has fallen off the heater box, not a dash out job as said, its behind the centre console.  Good news is the console is out already so you have no work to do ;)
If you follow the metal control lines you'll see right on the bottom the control cofs, you'll have to do some fiddling to get it all back into alignment though!

if i remember there are a coulple of dots on the cogs, they match up with the cogs already in place
