Digifant computer remap?

Hi
I have an 8v Digi Mk2 and was wonder if anyone has remaped the computer to squeeze some extra performance out of one. I understand that the 8v digi system was set up for a leaner burn for emmisions but I'm keen to get what I can out of the 8v. Comments appreciated.

I think the only way to change the programme on a digi is change the chip, have a search on here. From what I've read is there isn't a great deal more you can get, compared to the big gains on turbo applications. People would probably say get a 2.0L bottom end, change the cams etc, then you will see big gains.

Changing the cam and adding a performance exhaust can make a noticable difference alone. If you want more performance then add a 2e bottom end and have the the head port and polished. That will make a huge difference. I don't think the chips are really worth it.

here's a tip... dont chip an old engine... my pinking problem has all but gone now the performance chip has been replaced by the original!

plus tbh it makes hardly any difference.

Thanks for your feedback. I bought my GTi 8v with a dead engine so it's either a 2.0L bottom end swap or a 9A 16v transplant. Money is why I'm leaning towards staying with the 8v plus I understand that the bottom end torque is better on the 8v. The 8v engine on this one already has an adjustable cam gear and free flow exhaust and engine pipe from another model so that should help. That just leave the cam. Has anyone got any 8v duration specs to give a smooth streetable engine but that gives a decent improvement without haveing the engine try to jump out of its bay. Anyone got any estimates on what HP increase might be expected after the 2.0l and cam go in?

Next question..... Is the digfant system smooth running and reliable? Any weaknesses?

Th Digifant is great when setup correctly. No big problems, just clean the ISV occasionaly and the blue temp (ecu) sender can give out, but they are cheap.
