I'm in Dorset. Near Bridport.

Cental locking doesn't work via either keys in the door. If you turn the key twice it unlocks all the doors, but if you open a door the alarm goes off. When you unlock the drivers door it sounds like it will unlock the doors, but nothing happens. They all stay locked apart from the drivers.

I tried the option without Vagcom, didn't get a beep.

I only have a cheap cable off ebay for Vagcom, will it work to do the key changing?

hmm why are you turning the key twice though? you only need to turn it once.

there's a possibilty that both keys have lost their coding  :undecided:  i'd ask the dealer to check the keys first to eliminate them as the problem

cheap cable won't work i'm afraid

I discovered that if you turn it twice it unlocks all the doors.
Not sure why!

Turning once only unlocks the drivers door.

I think I'm going to take it to another garage.

Just to get a 2nd opinion.

Cheers for the tips.

I think they have just lost their memory. If the CCU was broken surely there would be other stuff that didn't work.

yeah exactly; i assume everything like electric windows etc work ok

deffo take it to another garage for a second opinion!  then if they gave a different diagnoisis which rectifies it i'd take that to the VW garage and demand your £42 back!

Yep. Electric windows and everything works.

Yeah, I was just thinking about that. They can't really charge me for a wrong diagnosis.

Thanks again.
