RUST!!!!

anyone had any major rust issues that are now solved? Im after advice really. shortly after getting my golf i found rust in the drivers side engine bay between a seam. after further picking and scraping it became 2 holes in my wheel arch just below the suspension mount.

Since then though ive bought it back to bare metal cut out the rot sanded down had a patch welded in. primer. primer. hammerite. hammerite. seam sealer (nasty fumes headache city!) halfords rattle tin job done!

hopefully the rust wont come back! ive also applied new seam sealer to all the seams i can get at within the engine bay to hopefully prevent any moisture/crap/etc getting into any opening cracks.

I had a seam patch on my rear arch, I had the patch put on the inside and then managed to get to the other side by removing the shock and treating it on the other side also. As my cars plain black I just used hamerite and shultz/waxoyl. It's been a year now and no signs of it comming back.

It sounds like you've done the best you can, just keep an eye on it. If you got to both sides then it should be fine IMO.

That was on my driver and the only patch of rust on the whole car, the rest is mint.
