have 8v 1989 GTI. Runs fine but idle at junctions and start up a bit bi-polar (erratic up and down then settle). Changed temp sensor blue, changed MAF no difference.
mechanic said idle valve but getting a little tired of guessing.
Temperature gauge is unreliable is this a clue to something??
