MK2 8V GTi Temperature Problems "MAJOR PROBLEMS"
« on: 24 October 2007, 23:51 »
Hello all its been a while since i last posted been really busy alately!

But here is my little story.

I got into my car the other week and noticed as soon as i started the engine the temperature light [MIDDLE RED LED] came on!!! Now this is strange as the engine is clot cold at this point so i went for a drive and the guage on the dash clocks was reading normal running temp!

So i went to my local parts shop and bought myself a new temp sensor [The BLACK One, just before the Cylinder head] and replaced it after much complication, such as burning my arm with boiling water stupid i know and having to go to hospital for it!!!!
When i got home i went to start the car to see if i had fixed the problem but to my amazment the light is still on and now the bloody thing overheats!!!!!

Do you think i will need to take it to someone who knows what they are doing to get the entire water and oil temp system checked and changed or can someone here tell me what to do PLEASE!!!!!!

Many thanks
JamieXxX

As per last post, check the coolant level first. If its low, the light should come on.

where abouts in sheffield are you mate?

anyways, bang your heaters on full, pop the cap off your water tank, then start her up, keep filling it until the fan kicks in, when it does check the level is bang on, then tighten up the cap and away you go.
oh yeah, while your filling the collant system, give all the pipes that you can see in the engine bay a good squeezing just to make sure you dislodge any air pockets, but i advise wearing some gardening gloves so you dont burn yourself...again.

if however it starts to boil up out of the cap, then your seal in teh cap has either perished of is damaged, quick trip to gilders, order the new blue cap style and away you go.

probbaly seen you about, need any help, give me a PM... good luck!

noble tuned - and still not fast enough!
