Power Steering Pipes - Mark II Gti
« on: 25 October 2007, 18:19 »
Hello there all,

new to the forum, I have a 91 british racing green 16v Gti. I had it off the road for a while this year. Since it's been back on the road, the power steering went and a tapping started.

I thought my alternator had gone, but have since been told it's the power steering pipes.

VW can't help, German Swedish can't help, so I'm at a loss to where to go to acquire these parts.

I also need a motor and spindle for the back windscreen wiper too.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I am just having my whole PAS system replaced. Pipes from VW in Germany, rack from local motor factors, new pump a couple of months ago. Not had the bill yet but the pump was 100, rack 160 and the pipes (three of them) 260. I have fitting on top of all that. So if you can get a second hand one and fit it yourself you will save hundreds. Hopefully my local garage will have done a good job in which case once I am through the pain of parting with all that money it will be worth it.
