T-Cut....?
« on: 16 October 2007, 15:21 »

Is this a good idea?   I have "mystic blue" pear effect paint and want
it to look fresh again, but i was told T-cutting it will take off the protective laquer layer on the paint. Is this true?

Cheers

"Cutting" is simply removing the dim and dirty top layer of the lacquer, coated with deposits and minor scratches that have built up over time revealing a shinier, new layer underneath. So, to answer your question, yes, it does take the lacquer off, but only a small amount. T-Cut should not be used all the time, as it will end up damaging the lacquer completely, but to keep your paint looking good, use some of the cleaning, polish, and waxing products recommended on the car cleaning section of this forum! Hope that helps!

lots can be achieved through a 'proper' polish process...

either megs 123 step, or some other paint renovating process

usually claying your car is a great start... allows you to see the wood from the trees...

for an example of what can be achieved using a polishing machine have a look at this thread....
