Brakes
« on: 14 October 2007, 18:19 »
Hi All,

Last Nov I had the rear pads and disks changed on my 16V MK3 for the MOT as they had a wear lip on them.
During this summer I discovered that I had a partially seized rear caliper and by the time I found it the disk had turned blue
I replaced the caliper and pads,on both sides and checked the disk for distortion. It was fine, with no perciveable runout so I decided to leave it for the time being. The brakes have since performed as they always didand the car pulls up straight under all conditions.
Question - Is a brake disk in this condition an automatic MOT fail ?

depends on the tester... my local place says if they pass the rolling presuure test thing they are ok whatever the condition....
