looks exactly like a 1.8 digi engine, tis only the b/e thats different. and the boost valve.

just driven to work and engine seemed alot better to be honest, test will come on way how though, always get stuck in traffic... but it was idleing alot cleaner i must admit, so fingers crossed, the carb cleaner may have prevailed!

only MK2/3 8v GTI ISVs are the same, 16v & G60 ones wont work.  When the idle is poor check the idle switch is still clicking when the throttle is closed, and amke sure the throttle hits up against the stop firmly. If you havent already put a new VW ecu coolant temp sensor in then replace all your vac lines, then read my digifant tuning guide!
Don't forget the rubber bung for the breather valve (aka PCV or 'flying saucer')

changed the rubber bung for a new one, changed the blue temp sensor, cleaned out the throttle body and checked all the hoses... only the isv and idle switch i guess to check, goto change the camshaft first though, stripped it off to changed the tappets and the shaft has several flat-spots... cant be helping, so thats this weekends job...

as for the ISV and throttle switch, i'll go to the scrappers and see if i can get one to test it with.

the ecu coolant temp sensor, is that the black one, or the blue one?

cheers,

rob
